EMT International is seeking an experienced Subcontract Manufacturing Buyer to join our team.
The Subcontract Manufacturing Buyer is responsible for purchasing raw materials and made-to-print parts that go into the machines that we build.
The person in this position plays an important role coordinating manufacturing activities through a network of machine shops, fabrication shops and outside processing such as paint, anodizing, heat treating, etc.
A Buyer for Subcontract Manufacturing has a blend of technical aptitude, relationship skills and business acumen.

Essential Functions:
Works closely with manufacturing operations team to purchase subcontract machining, metal fabrication and other value-added services to support the overall manufacturing production schedule in a project-based custom equipment manufacture.
Procure raw metal materials, machined or fabricated components and coating services such as powder coating, black oxide or plating.
Initiate and evaluate quotations with a focus on custom machined/fabricated metal parts.
Negotiate for best overall price, delivery, service, and quality to support the Production Schedule and meet customer needs.
Apply total cost approach is used to evaluate supplier price, service levels and quality and makes balanced decisions to subcontract work to a supplier.
Champion supplier development efforts and relationships to achieve long-term partnerships with suppliers that will be mutually beneficial.
Attend cross-functional team meetings and support parts flow to manufacturing operations and resolve escalated supplier issues.
Prepare reports, value analysis studies, and perform other procurement duties as assigned.
Follows-up on orders, verifies delivery, approves payment and record-keeping.
Use Epicor ERP system to create and manage purchase orders, maintain supplier price lists and conduct data analysis to develop purchasing insights.
Collaborate with other departments surrounding new supplier additions, and cost reduction efforts.
Develop and participate in process improvement functions.
Subcontract Manufacturing Buyer
Qualifications:
Three to five years of experience working with manufacture-to-print machined or fabricated metal parts preferred.
Experience interpreting engineering prints for fabricated and machined metal/plastic parts Experience with manufacturing operations common to fabrication and machining of parts, including coatings such as anodizing, powder coating.
Proficient in Microsoft Office, emphasis on Excel Experience in Epicor or similar ERP System is preferred.
Skilled at planning and organizing work with ability to manage priorities and deadlines in an engineer-to-order manufacturing environment.
Ability to read engineering drawings of machined and fabricated sheet metal parts and understand technical specifications of purchased parts.
